Dr. Brenda Hargrove has been an educator for 18 years, and currently serves as principal of Coker-Wimberly Elementary School in Battleboro, North Carolina. Brenda graduated from York College in Jamaica, New York, and earned a doctorate in educational leadership from East Carolina University in 2007. Her passion, however, is learning and teaching Spanish and sharing her culture as an African American. Brenda has traveled to Mexico, Belize and Argentina (last year as a Fulbright Exchange Scholar) for educational purposes.

Brenda’s research interests include African Diaspora, diversity and multiculturalism. Her future plans include traveling to Africa and maybe even joining the Peace Corps after retirement. In her spare time, Brenda enjoys reading, writing and traveling. She is currently working on a children’s book and hopes to find a publisher soon.
