Instructor (Crash Course in ESL)

LEARN NC

Carrie Hill, Learn NC’s A Crash Course in ESL instructor, has a passion for ESL students. She has worked with this special population for more than 10 years. From her start teaching in a community college to teaching PreK-12 ESL in Hertford County, she has seen the full spectrum of ESL students in North Carolina. In addition, she has traveled overseas to various countries and seen ESL students in their native countries. As a result, she can better understand the struggles they face when coming into public schools in the United States.

Throughout her career working with ESL students she has seen the great need to educate other teachers and school staff who have not been aware of the great value this special population brings to our schools. This prompted her to participate as an instructor in various online classes. Over the last three years, Carrie has taught more than 600 school staff through online classes about ESL students. In addition, Carrie is the founder of ESL Innovations Inc., an online database used by ESL teachers to make their demanding jobs easier. This company also provides ESL education services to North Carolina school systems.
