The mission of America's Story from America's Library from the Library of Congress is for kids "to have fun with history while learning at the same time." Using a variety of formats such as primary source images, audio, video, and games, this interactive website stimulates children's curiosity with five sections of topics about American History.

In Meet Amazing Americans, kids can choose to learn about all kinds people from leaders and statesmen to athletes and entertainers. Here they can discover what Abraham Lincoln had in his pockets on the night he was assassinated, read about Buffalo Bill Cody and his Wild West show, and watch one of Thomas Edison's first motion pictures.

The next section, Jump Back in Time, leads kids throughout American history from the colonial period up to the modern era where they can learn about the first settlers, be-bop, and the introduction of standard time zones. They can also find out what happened on their birthday.

Explore the States includes an interactive map where kids can find out many facts and stories about each the states and Washington DC.

Explore Join America at Play and watch a film of early break-dancing in 1898, read about baseball heroes, and find out about early Independence Day celebrations.

In See, Hear and Sing, kids will discover Vaudeville and the first cartoons, unusual instruments, children's songs, and buckaroos.

Throughout this website, the LOC encourages kids to learn while having fun by playing interactive games, listening to a jukebox, going on a treasure hunt, or animating their own cartoon. They can send a postcard to their friends and family about the cool things they find in the Library of Congress.
