Energy Matters
Energy Matters is a website designed by kids for kids in the Thinkquest competition. “At this site you can read about fossil fuels (coal, wood, oil and natural gas) or learn the difference between nuclear fission and fusion. Solar, wind, and geothermal are also covered. Play a simulation game concerning an energy crisis that is likely to occur in the future.”
The History section explores energy's influence on man from the earliest ages. Including a detailed section on the Middle East Oil Crisis of the 1970's.
Physics defines energy by the laws of physics and how physics influences how and why we can obtain energy.
The Uses section examines how we use energy in our everyday life and includes a Conservation Ideas Message Board.
The Types section provides detailed information on the different types of energy sources and their advantages and disadvantages. Includes a look at fusion, the energy source of the future.
Crisis! is an interactive game where you are the head of energy for an island nation and must face decisions regarding how to obtain your population's energy supply. This feature requires users to register.
