Adopt a pond in your neighborhood or use the "virtual pond" on the ExplorA-Pond website and students can collaborate with students worldwide and solve mathematical and scientific problems while they study the ecology of their pond. Teachers must "agree to submit a description of their pond, a photo of the pond, and share results from at least one of twenty four pond activity/lesson plans conducted on the adopted pond."

The site has a wealth of activities and lesson plans from which to choose for grades 1-6. In the area of mathematics, geometry and shape are explored. The science activities and lesson plans include the subjects of aquifers, estuaries, watersheds, to name a few. Pond life includes lessons on birds, insects, reptiles and amphibians, the food chain, camouflage, and more.
