Geography Action! is a geography website from National Geographic. It “is an annual conservation and awareness program designed to educate and excite people about our natural, cultural, and historic treasures.”

The topics addressed by this site include biodiversity, conservation, habitats, population, rivers, and U.S. public spaces. Within each of these subjects, students and teachers will find activities for K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 that can be used in the classroom to explore the relevant theme.

This is a community based project that revolves around Geography Awareness Week and students and teachers can register for free to receive email updates and participate in online discussions. The Resource Library is filled with helpful ideas, website, and other suggestions for learning and teaching about geography.

There are lesson plans, a database of natural sounds, and, in some areas, games and activities.
