University of California at Berkeley - Museum of Paleontology
You will find text and images on topics that fall within the overall heading of paleontology, including phylogeny, which is sometimes known as the family tree of life; geologic time, the temporal existence of groups of organisms; and evolutionary thought, evolutionary topics and scientists in their historical context. The exhibits are created by paleontogists and offer an overview of the diversity that has existed throughout time on this planet and highlight some of the research that paleontologists are conducting at the Museum of Paleontology. Paleontology, the study of what fossils tell us about the ecologies of the past, about evolution, and about our place, as humans, in the world, incorporates knowledge from biology, geology, ecology, anthropology, archaeology, and even computer science to understand the processes that have led to the origination and eventual destruction of the different types of organisms since life arose. There are links to other related sites that will be of interest and assistance to studies.
