“Inaugurated by the Academy in April 1996, National Poetry Month brings together publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools, and poets around the country to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Thousands of businesses and non-profit organizations participate through readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events.”

In the Poetry Book Club section, visitors will find:

  • Free Readers Guides to notable books of poetry
  • Profiles of existing poetry reading groups
  • How-to suggestions for starting your own
  • Reading recommendations from leading poets
  • A monthly list of new poetry releases

Check the forum for discussion areas geared toward poets and their readers, booksellers, librarians, and teachers. There is also a series of resources, including tipsheets for educator and librarians, graphics, and listings of useful poetry contacts.
