The North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources' Division of Archives and History leads an ongoing QAR Project; to protect, document, recover, and interpret the shipwreck identified as site 0003BUI, thought to be the Queen Anne's Revenge, flagship of Blackbeard the pirate. Historical research is currently underway pertaining to the Queen Anne's Revenge, Blackbeard, piracy in general, and the environmental and economic contexts of the central coastal region of North Carolina. As these archival studies are completed, they are posted to the web site.
