This "workbook" explains what can cause stormwater pollution and why students should care about this problem. Through the online activities they will learn how they can protect the water supply.

Everyone lives in a river basin. The site provides "River Basin Riddler Cards" which have facts about each North Carolina river basin. Teachers can print out the page and cut out the fact cards to make a river basin trivia game. Assign points to each of the facts and hold a class competition.

The "Pollution Solutions" worksheet asks students to name at least eight things that are shown in a picture that can cause water pollution and then asks what could be done differently to solve the problem. The activity is also provided in an interactive form.

The number one pollutant in North Carolina is dirt runoff. This site teaches students about the use of plant material to make buffers. An activity shows them how buffers work.

"Grade your Schoolyard" provides a questionnaire that students can use to assess what their school is doing to protect and conserve water. They can brainstorm about what can be done to improve the problems that they find.
