Since its creation in 1956, this organization has taken student delegations to 34 countries on all seven continents. Delegations consist of 30 to 40 student participants; ambassadorships are three-weeks in duration.

Academic credit is available through the program. Advance Placement credit is also available in areas such as: history, art, photography and journalism.

Participation is by invitation only. Nomination forms are available on the website, and interested students are asked to attend an information meeting in their area. Information on the Nomination Process and Information Meetings are available on the website.

Teachers may apply to act as teacher leaders on People to People ambassadorships. There are different leadership opportunities available for teachers, coaches, and even students in their junior and senior years of college. Information on these opportunities can be found throughout the Teacher Leaders section.
