Turtle Trails
North Carolina Aquariums exhibit and rehabilitate loggerhead sea turtles. The Turtle Trails project uses satellite transmitters attached to juvenile loggerhead sea turtles to follow their movements after rehabilitation and release from the North Carolina Aquariums. Activities on this site are aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study so that teachers and other educators can easily find activities to enhance their lessons. The standards met are listed on the left-hand side of each activity description. There are often new journal entries in the Research Logs section. There are maps of the latest turtle tracking in the Maps section. The Photo Gallery on the site is of particular interest, as well. All activities were created to introduce students to information about loggerhead sea turtles. The activities were developed for grades 6 through 12 with an emphasis on making them interdisciplinary. Some activities focus on math and science skills while others focus on the arts and the student's imaginations.
