You can see profiles and photos of more than 1,000 ecoregions on this site. Colorful maps on this site chart Earth's diverse eco-regions, places like the Chihuahuan Desert and the Congo Basin, characterized by distinct climate, ecological features, and plant and animal communities. Wild World maps (which were sent to schools and can be ordered on the site) are made interactive on this website. You can enjoy biodiversity and see the urgency of conserving it. An educator's guide accompanies the maps and offers lesson plans and activities on subjects like map fundamentals, biodiversity, and ecoregions. Global 200 contains maps of areas that have been designated by World Wildlife Fund as the most critical regions for conservation. They are some of the richest, rarest, and most endangered terrestial marine and freshwater natural areas on the planet. Terrestial Ecoregions is a section that contains maps of land-based ecoregions across the globe. Instead of being defined by political boundaries, each is distinguished by its shared ecological features, climate, and plant and animal communities. National Geographic's Mapmachine is a redesigned online atlas. You can find nearly any place on Earth, and view it by population, climate, and much more. Plus, you can browse antique maps, find country facts, or plan your next outdoor adventure with trail maps.
