e-Learning for Educators - Getting Ready for Algebra by Using Virtual Manipulatives
This course is offered as a part of the e-Learning for Educators project, a partnership between LEARN NC, The Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at North Carolina State University College of Education, UNC-TV, DPI, and the North Carolina Virtual Public School. Begins March 24
Introduce virtual manipulatives in your classroom to help students succeed in algebra. You'll explore the 17 algebra readiness indicators developed by the Southern Region Education Board and the Educational Testing Service, including the five process indicators and the 12 content and skills indicators.
By the end of the course, you will complete a technology-enhanced classroom project for your students that is aligned to National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and state standards.
Audience
This course is appropriate for algebra teachers in grades 7-12.
Time commitment
Approximately 2-5 hours per week
