North Carolina Homespun Museum
Asheville, NC (http://www.grovewood.com/homespun_museum.php)
The North Carolina Homespum Museum is on the grounds of the Grovewood Galleries. The Homespun Museum displays historic photographs and memorabilia from the early days of Biltmore Industries. The Biltmore Industries, created by Edith Vandebilt, was an industrial school to train young men and women living in Biltmore Village, which George Vanderbilt had constructed for the man and women who operated his estate. While many crafts were taught in those early years, the hand-weaving of fine cloth and woodworking proved the most popular and practical.
The North Carolina Homespun Museum is open April - December, Monday - Saturday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Sunday 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Call 828-253-7651 or send email to nchomespun@grovewood.com for more information.
