This museum contains exhibits on the history of North Carolina's forests starting with the Colonial naval stores industry that gave the state its "Tar Heel" nickname. It is located in Whiteville, 50 minutes west of Wilmington. It is a satellite of N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.

Located at 415 S. Madison St. in Whiteville, the hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1-4 p.m. Saturday, and 2-5 p.m. Sunday Admission is free. For more information call (910) 914-4185.
