The Historic Town of Salem, established in 1766, was born from the Protestant Moravian commitment to create church-organized communities where people lived together in harmony. Here, you can experience how life in this unique early American community was shaped and altered by 200 years of American history. You can also see the nation's largest collection of furniture and decorative arts of the South at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA). At the Old Salem Toy Museum you can visit an unparalleled collection of toys from around the world. And the Old Salem Children's Museum provides a place where parents and children can touch and interact with the past.
