- Interpreting Diaries of the American South Students will read diaries of individuals who lived in the American South from 1865-1917. After reading these diaries the students will use a visual means of displaying their interpretation. Visual presentations will be one of the following: shadow box, poster, PowerPoint using drawings done by the student, brochure, or presenting an item that would have been used during the time that their diary was written.
- Learn about your county This activity will allow fourth grade students in North Carolina to learn more about the counties that surround their home county. Using online images, students will create a multimedia presentation to share with others.

This historic home's architecture along with its cemetery shows the "important historical associations which ally it with the most prominent Highland Scots families in the upper Cape Fear region." Built in the late 18th century by John Gilchrist (1740 - 1802), it is one of the few remaining houses known to have been built by an immigrant Highland Scot.
The Mill Prong House is located on Edinborough Road, off Hwy 401, approximately five miles northeast of Wagram, NC in Raeford, NC. Guided tours of the home are provided several times a year and appointments are available. Contact Blake Tyner at bbtyner@carolina.net for more information.
