Afro-American Cultural Center
This cultural center was created to preserve the visual and performing arts heritages of African-Americans and other minorities. The Center has an art gallery with “over 100 works of art from renowned artists such as Elizabeth Catlett, Romare Bearden, John Biggers.” It also offers art classes to all age groups.

A hands-on environmental education center which focuses on water and waste water treatment.

Carolina Raptor Center
Find answers to their raptor questions, in-depth information about and photos of over twenty raptor species (the species includes owl, eagles, vultures, and more!), and a huge variety of raptor activities and games such as crossword puzzles, quizzes, and coloring pages. The Charlotte Museum of History
Permanent exhibits in the Charlotte Museum of History include Native American artifacts, representations of the colonial settlers, interactive dioramas of how the town of Charlotte looked in 1775, gold mining, the Civil War, and 2oth century topics. There are also temporary exhibits.

World War I - The impact of WWI on Mecklenburg County
This is a fun and engaging computer activity designed to help students understand how a war in Europe can effect a town in North Carolina. This lesson is part of a unit on World War I. This lesson may be used in a World History class or United States History class. It will deals with the creation of Camp Greene in Mecklenburg County and the impact the camp had on the inhabitants of Charlotte. The lesson will also focus on changes that occurred in Charlotte during WWI.
