This is the oldest frame house west of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. It was built in two parts, with the first part completed in 1815 by Benjamin Allison. It was sold to William Deaver in 1830. It has remained in "virtual unaltered condition for almost two centuries." There was never electric wiring, plumbing, or insulation.
Located on Highway 280 in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, the House is open April-October. Private Tours available upon request. Contact the Transylvania County Historical Society at (828) 884-5137.
