- Pettigrew State Park (Creswell)
- Named for the Pettigrew family and their farm, this land was made a state park
in 1939. The park has more than 1,200 acres of land and 16,600 acres of water.
Students will discover the natural history of this area as well as the history
of the people who have lived on this land.
- Port O'Plymouth Museum (Plymouth)
- This is primarily a Civil War museum revolving around the 1864 "Battle of
Plymouth", the second largest Civil War battle fought in North Carolina.
Impressive displays of cannon balls, bullets, buttons, buckles, guns, pictures,
and thousands of battle artifacts can be found here.
- Roanoke River Lighthouse (Plymouth)
- A new addition to Plymouth, North Carolina's landscape is a reproduction of the original 1866 Light Station. Operated by the Maritime Museum, this lighthouse is like no other on the coast and is a treat to visit.
- Somerset Place (NC Historic Site) (Creswell)
- Located on the banks of Phelps Lake, Somerset Place is a
representative antebellum plantation offering a view of life during the period
before the Civil War. It became one of North Carolina's most prosperous rice,
corn, and wheat plantations.
