More Amazing Americans: A WebQuest
http://edsitement.neh.gov/view_lesson_plan.asp?id=350
A lesson plan for Grades 3–5 Computer Technology Skills, Information Skills, Social Studies, and English Language Arts
In this EDSITEment lesson plan, students use the “Meet Amazing Americans” website created by the Library of Congress to explore the lives of some celebrated Americans. Working in small groups, they complete a WebQuest, identifying facts and locating different types of information in order to determine the criteria used for selecting these “Amazing Americans.” In addition, they nominate their own candidates for the title of “Amazing American,” using additional websites to create a profile of their nominee. From this introductory page, teachers can access archival materials needed to complete the lesson.
This page forms part of the EDSITEment website, created by the National Endowment for the Humanities in collaboration with the Council of the Great City Schools and the WorldCom Foundation.
