A lesson plan for Grades 3–5 Mathematics
Students access and investigate data using the internet and take part in a scavenger hunt as they gather and analyze U.S. Census data. After engaging students in a discussion about the U.S. Census, the teacher demonstrates how to use the internet to find data about the county in which they live. Upon completion of the activity sheet, the class participates in a discussion about their observations.
Students will:
- Gather and analyze U.S. Census data.
NCTM Standards and Expectations covered in this lesson include:
- Collecting data using observations, surveys, and experiments.
