In this lesson, one of a five-part unit from Illuminations titled “Mathematics and Environmental Concerns,” students participate in activities in which they investigate the data in connection with recyclable materials and develop plans to help the environment. Students gather and graph information about their classroom paper use over a period of several days, and then interpret graphical information and use the data as a basis for future planning.
