Antebellum homes and plantations

Allen House

John Allen built this house for his family around 1780 near Snow Camp, North Carolina, in Alamance County. The family occupied the house until the twentieth century. The log house, with no windows and a partial second floor, was characteristic of the types of houses lived in by people who owned small farms.
