Figure 16 shows the interior of the kiln shown in Figure 15. The shape of the roof was achieved by building a wooden frame that looked like an upturned boat in the interior to support the firebricks of the roof until the full structure was complete and self-supporting. Once the top brickwork was complete, the wooden frame was removed.
