Cinco de Mayo
On May 5th, 1862, the Mexican Army defeated an invading French column at Puebla. Although the war lasted many more years, this important victory is commemorated as a national holiday. Increasingly, people of Mexican descent in the United States are marking this holiday as a special celebration of culture.
