When Jane McKimmon became the first Home Demonstration Agent, there were only 416 white farm girls in fourteen of North Carolina’s counties who participated in the program.
After thirty years of Mrs. McKimmon’s hard work there were 75,000 people (both black and white) in 100 counties who were participating!
