LEARN NC was a program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Education from 1997 – 2013. It provided lesson plans, professional development, and innovative web resources to support teachers, build community, and improve K-12 education in North Carolina. Learn NC is no longer supported by the School of Education – this is a historical archive of their website.

Philosophy resources for educators

LEARN NC and UNC’s Department of Philosophy’s Philosophy Outreach Program have developed this collection of philosophical resources for educators. Here you’ll find tools and lessons to help you incorporate philosophical issues into your instruction. These resources include a “Philosophy 101″ guide for educators, links to exceptional web resources and lesson plans online, and a collection of LEARN NC lesson plans that you can easily modify to include philosophical elements. Whichever grade level or subject area you teach, you’ll find suggestions for making philosophy a part of your curriculum.

If you have ideas or suggestions for resources we can add or areas on which you’d like us to focus, please email Kimberly Hirsh, Managing Editor.
