Faith Ringgold has been creating story quilts for over 35 years. Primarily known as an artist, she won the Caldecott Honor Book and the Coretta Scott King Award with the publication of her first book, Tar Beach. With that sucess she has written 5 more books: Aunt Harriet’s Underground Railroad in the Sky, Dinner at Aunt Connie’s House, Bonjour Lonnie, My Dream of Martin Luther King, and The Invisible Princess. Faith Ringgold has permanent art exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and other museums.
