Evolution: a journey into where we’re from and where we’re going is a multimedia companion website to a seven part television series from PBS. “This extensive site offers resources for students, teachers, and the curious public-at-large.”Listed below are some of the resources you will find at Evolution.
- Darwin. Includes a look at “Darwin’s Dangerous Idea,” an interactive diary that delves into his private thoughts, explores why racism and bigotry are linked, unjustly, to Darwin, and an interactive activity to witness how a new species can evolve.
- Change. Includes a game to test skills at judging who’s who on the tree of life, a timeline that explores 4 billion years of life on Earth, and an illustrated essay.
- Extinction. Includes an interactive activity to explore what killed the dinosaurs and a roundtable discussion on mass extinction.
- Survival. Includes an interactive activity about coral reefs, a simulation of a microbe clock, and a roundtable discussion of experts who discuss how we can stop deadly, drug-resistant microbes.
- Sex. Includes a simulation called “Sex and the Single Guppy,” a game to help our contestants pass their genes down the evolutionary line, an illustrated essay that explores why sex evolved, and a poll that questions if evolution shaped our taste in mates.
