Earthwatch Institute
The Earthwatch Institute is an international, non-profit organization that links concerned volunteers with scientific expeditions throughout the world. Earthwatch teams consisting of scientists and students travel the world to help identify and solve environmental problems in Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Malaysia, Botswana, and many other locations. Short videos, photo galleries and news articles describe research projects such as human burials in Thailand beginning as early as 2000 B.C., global warming threats to crocodiles of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, and starving gray whales in the North Pacific. Educational resources include a variety of K-12 science lesson plans focusing on environmental issues and problems, and information on currently-offered, Earthwatch expeditions for students and teachers which require significant tuition fees.
