Sandlot Science.com is devoted to optical illusions and visual oddities. The items are grouped into exhibits, demonstrations and interactive illusions, and then organized by type with a number of examples for each type. A discussion of the science of the illusion accompanies each example. Each item can be used by teachers to demonstrate how eyes, ears, expectations can be tricked and each is suitable for students at all levels. A discussion on illusions is available in the Reading section called “What is an Illusion?”. The “Art and Illusion” section showcases artists throughout history who have incorporated potical illusions in their works.
Posters, calendars, magnets, cards and other items are available for sale in the gift shop and there is a link to CafePress, which offers apparel and housewares sporting optical illusions.
