The Atlantic Slave Trade and Slave Life in the Americas: A Visual Record contains approximately 1,200 images from several libraries and collections with Africana collections and related materials. The image collections are divided into 18 categories, including: Maps: Africa, New World, Slave Trade, Domestic Servants & Free People of Color, and Portraits & Illustrations of Individuals. The site is designed to provide a visual representation of the experience of slavery from sale through life as a slave to emancipation. Contents of this site are not limited to North America but include images from both North and South America.
