Thinking about college? You probably have a lot of questions: How does the application process work? What sort of college is right for me? How much will college cost? Here is one of many great sites that students, parents, and teachers can use to find out answers to these questions.College Is Possible is the American Council on Education’s K-16 youth development program that motivates middle and high school students from underserved communities to seek a college education. And not only will students find this website useful but there is also information for adults thinking about going to or going back to college. At the time College is Possible was cataloged for Learn NC, this website was still undergoing construction. The resources available included:
- Preparing for College. This section looks at steps parents can take to prepare their child for college, recommended books and website, and recommended courses for the college-bound high school student.
- Paying for College. This chapter explores a variety of financial aid programs, basic facts about financial aid, a student glossary, myths and realities, and, again, recommended books and websites.
- The Right College. This segment provides information about searching for college, the admissions process, an admissions and financial aid calendar, a list of college and university websites, and related books and websites.
- Lifelong Learner. This is the section for adults seeking to go back to school and covers such issues as preparing to return to college, choosing the right program, applying yourself, credit for prior learning, and myths and realities about going to college as an adult.
Features that should be coming soon include parental involvement, community engagement, professional development, and academic enhancement.
