Conversations with History is a public interest television series from the Institute of International Studies at UC Berkley; the corresponding website includes the transcripts of the interviews conducted on this program. “In these lively and unedited interviews, distinguished men and women from all over the world talk about their lives and their work. They reminisce about their participation in great events, and they share their perspectives on the past and reflect on what the future may hold. Guests include diplomats, statesmen, and soldiers; economists and political analysts; scientists and historians; writers and foreign correspondents; activists and artists. The interviews span the globe and include discussion of political, economic, military, legal, cultural, and social issues shaping our world.” Conversations with History includes over 200 interviews, which may be in text or transcript format or both.Some of the notable figures interviewed in this series are Studs Terkel, Yossi Beilin, Sir Brian Urquhart, and Anatol Lieven.This website also includes teaching resources under the section Connecting Students to the World. These resources include research galleries, themes, and a case study of a 12th grade democracy class.
