Consumer Jungle, from the Young Adult Consumer Education Trust, “is a web-based program that helps turn high school students into savvy consumers without putting them to sleep. There’s a camp for everyone. Students will discover a treasure trove of games, and teachers will find free classroom materials. There’s even something for parents - a section filled with tips on how to help the young adults in their lives find their way safely through the real world.”This website includes five curriculum topics:
- Credit Cave. Use and abuse of credit, choosing a card wisely, dangers and downfalls of credit, rights, and resources.
- Car-fari. How to purchase, finance, and maintain a car.
- eSmarts. How to buy, sell, navigate, and communicate online safely and efficiently.
- Surviving Solo. Cost-of-living reality check, budgeting, apartment rental agreements, landlord-tenant rights, utilities.
- Jingle in the Jungle. How to choose the best telephone or Internet plan, consumer rights, and resources.
