Cleopatra: A Multimedia Guide to the Ancient World is a guide to the Ancient Art Collection of The Art Institute of Chicago. Named for Cleopatra, who embodied the three great cultures of the ancient Mediterranean region (she was Greek by birth, ruled Egypt as its queen, and lost her kingdom to Rome) this site features artwork from ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome. Materials are linked using maps and a timeline enabling either geographic or chronological access. A glossaryprovides audio pronunciations and definitions of people, places and things related to the objects featured on the site.
Object-based, interdisciplinary Lesson Plansare provided to build students’ understanding of ancient cultures through activities, text, images and video clips.
