http://pbskids.org/wayback/index.html
Wayback: U.S. History for Kids from PBS starts kids off by introducing the concept that they have their own history. With the introduction of the Still family (which boasts the nation’s longest-running African American family reunion), kids learn tips for planning a family reunion. They can print or download a free family tree and learn about long distance modes of communication such as letter writing. After learning that their own history is important, kids can look at other “issues” of the Wayback series, which include:
- The Future
- Family Ties
- Flight
- Summer Vacation
- Stand Up For Your Rights
- Gold Rush!
- Technology 1900
Suggestions are offered for teachers and parents who want to use these resources in the classroom or at home.
