http://www.smith.edu/libraries/libs/ssc/atg/index.html
“Family papers can be used as a window into evolving social conditions, on-going economic change, new political trends, and cultural shifts over time.” Across the Generations assembles four collections of family documents to show how social history is mirrored in the private papers of families. The Bodmans, Dunhams, Garrisons, and Hales are introduced with exhibits that are separated into a Selected Images and Documents category and a Family Tree category. Explore how their papers, photographs, and personal effects (including a paper doll collection) reflect a few major themes in social history:
- Family Life
- Social Awareness and Reform
- Arts and Leisure
- Work
