http://digital.lib.msu.edu/projects/cookbooks/index.html
Learn more about America’s cultural heritage by exploring the food ways from the late 1700s to the 1920s. The Feeding America web collection is a digital exhibit featuring a collection of American cookbooks from the late 18th to early 20th century — page images as well as searchable full-text transcriptions. This site also includes a glossary of cookery terms and multidimensional images of antique cooking implements from the collections of the Michigan State University Museum.
Browse the cookbook collection by date, title or interest. Interest includes subjects like Children’s cookery, advertising ephemera and social issues, as well as the various ethnic influences like German, Creole and African American. Once you locate an interesting title you may view the catalog entry for that title to learn more about the published work. Then you may choose to page through the book’s scanned page images or read and search the complete transcript of the work. You may even choose to download an Acrobat Reader version (pdf) which might be useful for printing page images.
