The Charles W. Wason Collection on East Asia consists of over 550,000 items in many formats. The collection began with Chinese materials, but has expanded its focus to include materials from Japan, Tibet, Manchuria and Korea. The collection includes a multitude of primary sources. There are European-language materials on China and Chinese-language and Japanese-language materials. Biographical sketches of renowned Chinese philosopher Hu Shi and linguist Y.R. Chao and a narrative collection on The Opium Wars are included. The site includes virtual objects, a China collection, Korean collection, Japanese collection, and Tibetan collection.
