You can really get to know nineteenth-century American poet Walt Whitman and his work by visiting the The Walt Whitman Archive. The website has digitized images of Whitman’s original manuscripts, numerous photographs of Whitman organized by decade, facsimile and e-text versions of editions of Leaves of Grass, and more. The materials are marked up for electronic search and analysis, and they are supplied with full scholarly annotations and notes. Literary criticsm of Whitman’s work and an audio recording of what is thought to be Whitman reading are also available on the site.
