Treasures in Full: Shakespeare in Quatro
http://www.bl.uk/treasures/shakespeare/homepage.html
On this site you will find the British Library’s 93 copies of the 21 plays by Shakespeare printed in quarto before the theaters were closed in 1642. There are 4 major sections of the site: The Basics, the Background, the Afterlife, and the Texts.
The Basics section gives a background on William Shakespeare and explains what the quatros are. In the Texts area you can compare the texts of the quatros.
In the Background section you can find out about Shakespeare, his works, his theatre world and the printing of his plays. Other web resources appear in the Links section, with further reading in References. You can also view a timeline.
In the Afterlife section you can see how the plays have changed in print and in performance, from the re-opening of the theaters in 1660.
