The Newton BBS website “provides k-12 science, math and computer science teachers and their students a place to practice telecommunications, retrieve information on a wide variety of subjects, contact research scientists from all over the world and open communications between classroom teachers.”At this site users can ask a scientist a question or browse the answers to previously answered questions in categories such as astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, mathematics, and zoology. You can also browse mini-websites of science materials on the Teacher Classroom and Curriculum Development Page. These mini-websites were “created by teachers for teachers” and formatted for the Web by Newton BBS. Just some of the topics covered include hickory trees, electrophoresis and fluorescent bacteria, typical science laboratory equipment, computer viruses, science fair projects, a plant database, and toothpick bridges.
