Alliance for Language Learning

Established by the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina (FLANC), the Alliance for Language Learning promotes opportunities for learning languages in communities throughout North Carolina. The organization serves as an advocate and as a resource for parents, communities, schools, businesses and policymakers at both state and local levels and works to ensure that North Carolina’s students have well-articulated, high quality foreign language programs.
Vision 2010 is an initiative to establish well-developed K-12 model foreign language programs across North Carolina. The value of Language learning to the students of North Carolina is evident. Students who learn a foreign language will be better educated, have an advantage in the work place, and be more tolerant of other cultures. Language learning is important for the state as a whole; however, few North Carolina students currently graduate from high school with any meaningful level of proficiency in foreign language. The Vision 2010 program is a commitment to improve this situation.
