Agriculture in the Classroom
The Kid’s Zone includes tips for kids interested in agricultural science projects and a series of virtual field trips that explore the life and work of various farms. The Kid’s Zone, like many “USDA for kids” sites, has a design that will appeal only to elementary students, but much of its content, such as the information on science fair projects and the tour of a power plant, is appropriate for older age groups.
The Teen Scene is a great place to send high school students to learn about issues and careers in agriculture. Project ideas for science fair and careers in biology or food science are just the start… I challenge you to beat the Fly game on the Plastic Fork Diaries site, this food locator activity is a real challenge!
Educational material for agricultural careers and integrating agriculture topics into science and other courses. The Teacher Resources include lesson plans for grades K-12 on agriculture and geography, a timeline of events in agricultural history, state agricultural profiles, and recommended weblinks.
