Cable in the Classroom
Cable in the Classroom is the cable industry’s non-profit educational foundation. It is engaged in research about the impact of technology and content on teaching and learning, development of medial literacy resources created in partnership with the PTA, producing publications for educators and developing and providing online tools and excellent content resources for teaching, learning and collaboration.
The website is searchable for web and video resources, provides issues of Access Learning magazine, resource alerts and e-newsletters, Project Cam for live interaction with experts and other learners, CLIC, a project management and collaboration tool as well as an interactive, multimedia, content-rich tour of Shakespeare to demonstrate the power of broadband tools. Topics include learning with technology, ideas for use of webcams in the classroom, tools for collaborative projects, the use of extensive C-SPAN resources and a schedule of cable and webcasts organized by subject area. The area devoted to professional enrichment includes an online primer for media literacy, digital ethics, critical thinking skills and links to other media literacy resources.
