This non-profit institution provides educators with educational materials and DVD’s which help teach students about the interconnectedness of the world today. Their World in Transition series covers seven world regions and discusses economic, political, geographical, and environmental issues. It is available for purchase. The series updates are available without charge and require Adobe Acrobat Reader to download.
The Southern Center for International Studies also provides workshops through university-based international studies centers. They provide independent workshops as well. The International Social Studies Project in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has provided these workshops for many years. SCIS has continued to sponsor workshops nationally and have worked with the Charlotte World AffairsCouncil on several occasions. In our World in Transition Series we have materials on the Middle East,Latin America, East Asia, Africa, Europe, South Asia and Russia.
