See the “Image of the Day” in the images area of the site. Watch videos of space exploration, spaces news, and more in the video section. The interactive features include a photo essay, a quiz, a NASA mission, and others. Viewers can watch NASA TV on their computer. There is much to see and do on this multimedia website.
Creation of a multimedia presentation and non-linear multimedia products are competencies required by the Computer Skills curriculum. The greatest challenge in creating these materials is often locating audio, visual and video content, and obtaining permission for the use of these materials. Using NASA’s Multimedia Gallery, however, will change the challenge from finding materials, to deciding which of the spectacular images to use in the presentation! The Photo Gallery and the Video Gallery are indexed, providing subject access to materials from many of the hundreds of NASA sites from one place, and audio files are listed by date and title on the NASA’s Space Story site.
Students are also required by the Computer Skills curriculum to demonstrate an understanding of copyright. While credit to the source must always be given when using media from any source, NASA’s copyright is less restrictive than that of most sites, usually releasing the user from the necessity of obtaining formal written permission.
